Fair Trade Fashion comes to Malmesbury

Fair Trade Fashion pioneer, Bishopston Trading Company, has opened a new store in Malmesbury.
To the delight of ethical consumers and green fashionistas Bishopston Trading's range of Fair Trade organic cotton clothing, will be available from the new shop at 11 High Street in Malmesbury.

Bishopston Trading Company has worked in partnership with the South Indian village of K.V.Kuppam for 24 years, providing long-term, stable employment to hundreds of local villagers.

The original inspiration for the business was a simple statement made by one of the villagers that as skilled craftspeople they need work not charity: this has remained the founding principle of the business since then.

Malmesbury has already gained Fairtrade Town status and Bishopston Trading Company will be making a much wider range of Fairtrade goods available in the High Street.

The new shop will be full of Bishopston's distinctive colours and designs for women, men, young children and babies.

Clothes are made from pure cotton velvet and corduroy, denim, calico and handwoven cloth.

In addition, there will be a selection of bedding, bags accessories and children's toys.

All products are made from Fairtrade organic cotton and carry the well-known Fairtrade mark that we all recognise from our Fairtrade tea, coffee, bananas and chocolate - it enables customers to be sure that their purchases are making a positive difference to the lives of producers in developing countries.

With concern about the environmental and social effects of our shopping habits increasing everyday, the addition of a Fair Trade Fashion pioneer to the High Street in Malmesbury will no doubt be welcomed as an asset to the community.
