Alabaré

News from Alabaré Trust

Damascus House has been replaced with a brand new purpose built hostel, providing high quality accommodation and a range of training facilities in a more environmentally friendly building.
Rt Rev Nick Holtam, the new Bishop of Salisbury, gave Alabaré Place his blessing this month in a service of commissioning. Residents, workers and supporters joined in the service held under the soaring glass atrium, the heart of the hostel, which is home to 33 men and women.
He declared: "What an amazing place, it makes you grow! Why does a home matter so much? It gives us somewhere to flop, it gives us privacy and security. It gives us a sense of identity, of who we are. Without a home you can lose your sense of identity... To have a home in our society is right."

Café Alabaré

If you are looking for a lunch venue with a difference look no further than Café Alabaré at 14 Endless Street in Salisbury.
Cafe Alabare, which is open to the public five days a week, is a training café for vulnerable adults who gain valuable work experience whilst working both behind the counter and in the kitchen.
The cafe is being run as a social enterprise and also runs a pre-order sandwich service for local businesses.
It is hoped that in the future some of the ingredients used will be grown on Alabaré allotments.  Opening times: Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 3pm
